About Us
Up with Life Ministries was out of the loins of the late Rev Leroy Dixon, Elder Childs grandfather. Rev. Leroy Dixon was a Methodist Minister. Elder Childs grew up in Bethany CME Church where his grandfather was the pastor and his grandmother Chaney Dixon was the pianist. The seed was planted at an early age. Proverbs 22:6 say, “to train up a child in the way that they should go, and when they are old they will not depart” It didn’t say they wouldn’t go astray, but they would not depart. Growing up rather fast, marrying at the age of 17, serving 11 years in the Army and 3 years of baseball took its toll on Elder Childs. Elder Childs turned to drugs in 1985 and ended up in jail and prison. In 1989, Elder Childs and his wife Vanessa were introduced to Holiness, Pentecostal under the late Bishop T.L. Rayner. Elder Childs accepted the Lord as his Savior under the leadership of Mother Alberta Baker at Overcoming Church of God in Christ. 2 Cor. 3:6 states that one plants, one waters but God gives the increase. On his way to prison for the second time, God gave Elder Childs the vision of Up With Life Ministry. Elder Childs was instructed to preach and to give life rather then taking life form himself (Matt. 10: 1-6). In 1996 while in the county jail, Elder Childs began putting the vision on paper. While serving time at Hernando Correctional he revealed the vision to Deacon Hilliard, Brother John Collins, Brother Tony Hunter and many others. The ministry was incorporated in March 1998 and has just celebrated its 4th year. Up With Life Ministries have lead over 500 souls (men, women, boys, and girls) to Christ. This ministry has not looked back and don’t feel no ways tired. The founder of Up With Life Ministries has made a commitment to run and see what the end is going to be. Deacon Hilliard was appointed as Vice President 1999, Minister Butler as Secretary in 1999 and the membership is continuing to grow. Those that know how to pray, pray much for Up With Life Ministries Inc.

Isaiah 1:18-19
“Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land”
